About SPIEZ

Built for the ones who build.

SPIEZ makes safety shoes and slip-resistant work shoes for people who spend the whole shift on their feet: on job sites, in kitchens, on hospital floors and in warehouses. We took our name from a small Swiss town on Lake Thun, and our standard from the way it was built. Make it last, then keep making it better.

Spiez Castle and its church above the bay on Lake Thun, Switzerland

A town that never stopped building.

Spiez sits on the southern shore of Lake Thun, in the Canton of Bern. Its castle has watched over the bay for about a thousand years. The old StrΓ€ttligen Chronicle credits King Rudolf II of Burgundy with building it in 933, and the stone keep that still stands today went up around 1200.

What we admire is how it grew. The castle passed from the StrΓ€ttligen family to the Bubenbergs in 1338 and later to the von Erlachs. Each owner added to what was already there instead of tearing it down.

That is how we make shoes. We keep what works, listen to the people who wear them, and fix what doesn't.

Every shoe carries a place.

Our lines are named after real places in Switzerland, and each name says something about the shoe. Spiez, at 628 meters on Lake Thun, is home. It's the name on every box.

Four technologies, one job.

That job is getting you through the shift. Every SPIEZ shoe is built from the same four systems, and which ones a model carries depends on the work it's made for.

  • Warehouse worker in SPIEZ safety shoes pushing a wooden crate

    ShieldXβ„’ Composite safety toe

A metal-free safety toe that is lighter than steel, doesn't carry heat or cold, and typically won't set off metal detectors. On our safety models it meets ASTM F2413 and EN ISO 20345.

  • Chef wearing SPIEZ work shoes on a commercial kitchen floor

    Wunder Gripβ„’ Slip-resistant outsole

A rubber compound and tread made for wet, greasy floors. Our outsoles are rated SRC for slip resistance, tested on wet tile and on oily steel.

  • Two healthcare workers in SPIEZ shoes walking outside a hospital

    BernCore Foamβ„’ Cushioned midsole

A lightweight midsole that soaks up the shock of every step, so your feet and knees have more left at the end of a 10- or 12-hour shift.

  • SPIEZ work shoes being rinsed under a kitchen tap

    AquaFlexβ„’ Water-resistant upper

An upper that shrugs off spills, bends with your foot and wipes clean after a messy shift.

What you can count on.
